10 Must See Shows On Netflix
As schools and universities are taking a winter break, I thought
now would be the ideal time to put out a list of my favorite shows on Netflix!
Netflix is honestly just like a black hole, it sucks you in,
and you cannot escape it! I am speaking from personal experience because, if I start watching a new series, I’m binging it
till 2am the next day and carrying on when I wake up after a rather short sleep.
As I’m writing this, I realized I have been putting it off for a few hours now,
and why? BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN WATCHING NETFLIX! The black hole is real guys.
So, let’s just jump right into it, because it’s going to be
a long one. I have put together a list of my 10 must see shows on Netflix.
1.
Friends
If you know me, you would know I love a
good classic series. This is a feel-good show that you can watch at any time,
over and over again. It’s a show that you can rely on to make you feel good and
make you laugh. If you haven’t seen it before, it’s a series that follows the
lives of 6 BFF’s living in New York. It follows their lives separately and together
as a group. It lasted 10 seasons and is rated a staggering 8.9 on IMDb. I love
rewatching this show from season 1 to 10 every year because it makes me so nostalgic.
As a child, I would sit in my parent’s room on the carpet and watch old
episodes on Etv on a Friday night. This for me, is a staple.
2.
You
This is a psychological thriller starring
one of my favorite actors from Gossip Girl, Penn Badgley. It is about a young
bookstore manager that falls in love with a customer, who is also an aspiring
writer. He starts dating her and suddenly the obsession with her starts. The lengths
that he goes to for romance, is unexplainable. It is a wonderful show to cozy
up under the duvet with some hot chocolate and watch. It’s a lovely duo of a little
bit of romance and a little bit of drama.
3.
Sex Education
This is a comedy about teenagers who are
trying to figure about sexuality. The main character who is quite reserved when
it comes to girls, has a mom who is a sex therapist. Despite his lack of experience
with girls, he sets up a business at school with a classmate, where he teaches
other students how to deal with their sex problems. A laugh every 5 minutes is guaranteed.
It is just truly brilliant.
4.
The Good Place
This show focuses on the afterlife. When the
main character Elenor wakes up in an office after dying, she realizes that when
you die, you either go to the Good Place or the Bad Place. Whilst living in the
Good Place, which is a heaven like utopia, she fast realizes something is
wrong. A light hearted comedic take on what happens after death.

5.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
This is a show for lovers of genre
hybridity in shows. This is a romantic musical comedy show. Try say that 500
times! This show follows the life of a sassy New York lawyer who suffers with
anxiety. After being offered partnership at her firm, she starts panicking. She runs
into her ex-boyfriend who failed to make it big in New York and is trying to
move back to his hometown of West Covina. Remembering how much she loved him
and in her panicked state, she packs up her bags and follows him to West
Covina. And the rest? You’ll just have to watch it, because wow this lady is
crazy!
6.
On My Block
This is a coming-of-age show. It features 4
best friends whose friendship is tested in their very rough neighborhood of Los
Angeles. They try to have a normal childhood experience but are sucked into
gangsterism. This show will leave you feeling differently every episode, some are
funny, some make you reminisce about your first love, and some make your heart
break. This show is put together extremely well, and the actors are incredible.
This is a must watch.
7.
One Day at A Time
This is a comedy/drama that follows the
life of a Cuban-American family. The family is headed by a single mom who is army
veteran, that suffers from PTSD She is now studying and working at the same
time. Her mother also lives with her, and the two kids. The story is about life’s
ups and downs and how she deals with them. A wonderful family friendly show
that is perfect to watch when you want to watch something real.
8.
Fuller House
This is the sequel to the much loved, Full
House. It is focused on the life of Danny Tanners daughter, DJ Tanner. She’s a
veterinarian and also widowed. She has three wonderful sons and her best friend
Kimmy and her one sister Stephanie live with her in their childhood home. This show
is feel-good, and great to watch with your family. It’s also extremely nostalgic
if you’ve seen Full House as a child. With every new season, this show gets
better and better.
9.
Lucifer
This show is amazing. I’m just to come out
and say it from the beginning. RUN AND WATCH IT NOW! It follows Lucifer
Morningstar, who is actually the Devil himself. He abandons hell to live in Los
Angeles. He starts running an exclusive nightclub and becomes a civilian consultant for the
LAPD. He becomes close with Detective Chloe Decker, but it has grave
consequences for him. This show has a little bit of everything in it, it truly
is binge-worthy.
10. Kim’s
Convenience
Some might say I saved the best for last! This show is
probably the most relatable. It is centered around a Korean family that lives
in Toronto. The father, Mr. Kim, runs a convenience store. His wife and daughter
also work in it. He does have a son, but they don’t speak to each other. This show
makes you feel like you’re apart of their family. It reminds you of your
parents and growing up. You will find something relatable to your life and your
family in every episode. It’s amazing how well put together this is.
I hope you've enjoyed reading about my top 10 shows on Netflix, I would love to hear your favorites!
