The diet starts tomorrow!

Hey guys, happy 2019! I’m so glad to be back and at it with the content for the new year. Recently I was in Cape Town on vacation and I strayed from my eating plan, MAJORLY!

I am really not a big breakfast person in general. So for me to want to eat breakfast, I must really enjoy the place a lot. Soham and I came across Bootlegger Coffee Company in Claremont that happened to be a 1-minute walk from his apartment, so one morning we decided to go down and have some coffee and share something small to eat for breakfast (we didn’t want to eat because we were going to hout bay for lunch, but it was getting late and we were a little peckish!)

They are famous for their coffee, but we hadn’t had the opportunity to try them the last time we were in Cape Town, so we had to go this time round. Soham ordered a flat white, his favourite, I ordered a honey nut latte and we got an almond croissant to share. We decided to eat there, so we paid and sat outside, because it was such a stunning morning.

The waitress brought us our drinks and our warmed up almond croissant. The coffee definitely loved up to expectations and the croissant was terrific! It was super buttery and warm on the inside, crispy and topped with flaked almonds! It was so good that decided that we would go back for breakfast the next day!


The next day we popped in for a full on breakfast. Soham ordered poached eggs on a potato rosti with mushrooms and hollandaise, and I got a stack of fluffy flapjacks with mascarpone cream, syrup and cinnamon sugar, served with syrup on the side. We also ordered a flat white and mocha to drink.
We both really enjoyed our meals, my flapjacks were fluffy and the mascarpone cream added a great flavour that balanced the sweetness of the dish. Soham was extremely pleased with his meal, as he said the eggs were delicious and the mushrooms were sautéed well. His potato rosti’s were very crispy and tied the whole dish together.


We enjoyed our breakfast so much, we took his parents there a few days later, and they loved it also!

Bootlegger is definitely worth a try for breakfast or even if you want a cup of coffee for when you’re walking around Cavendish! They also have other branches around cape town, so check them out on Instagram and pop in for a wonderful breakfast and some coffee that will surely wake you up!
